Hello, I've just bought a new Interl Core 2 duo, and to 'celebrate' the new entry I also wanted to change the wifi lan adapter from a traditional PCI one to the newest USB 'WAVE 54' by Digicom due to the linux compatibility declared on the packaging. So, when I inserted the wireless usb lan adapter, my kernel immediately recognized the ZD1211 chipset. (kernel: 2.6.24-21-generic) The LAN worked fine but also for a few minutes.because the operating system completely frost with nothing to do, I had to reboot. After that the only way I have to use my 'hardy heron' is by removing the Digicom adapter ad working off-line, when I retry to insert the adapter, after 4-5 seconds the system frooze again (to send this email I had to reboot on windows mode, where the ' wave 54' works fine.sigh!) help me please, I'd like to avoid another windows login.;-). If there is sameone interested in this issue, I've just solved my problem.

I found a better version of the driver for Zydas ZD1211 chipsets (zd1211rw), modified for the 2.6.24 kernel compatibility. You just need to open terminal as root and 'make', the procedure compile & install the driver, reboot the pc and everything will go ok! The system never freeze again.
