However, 'Buy It Now'-style listings on auction sites, from reputable retailers, are allowed at the discretion of Moderators. • Keeping silver within the community is encouraged. With that in mind, posts of you selling your silver are allowed, as are cross posts of the same from as long as a price, preferred method of payment, and shipping details are included in the post. No auction style listings, no vague requests for a top bidder, etc. So, I was dropping off a Mercury Dime at my LCS (figure I scratch their back and maybe they'll scratch mine) when I saw a stack of shiny Johnson Matthey bars in the display case. 'Just bought those today, figured you might like them' said the owner as I inquired about them.
Upon further inspection I saw none of them had the typical serial number I'm used to seeing on JM, that area was just blank. They wanted $19 each which didn't seem too bad for a premium generic 1oz in a capsule. I ultimately passed as the store doesn't have have a metal analyzer and I was concerned about them being counterfeit. (I'm trying to convince them they need to get one ASAP) Anyone else have experience or thoughts on JM missing serial numbers? The capsules made me even more suspect as I saw it as a testing deterrent. They did weigh out, but I know that doesn't mean anything these days.
